Join STEMDan: Help Us Launch the Next Generation of Engineers!
The Opportunity: We need your help to keep a proven, hands-on STEM activity accessible to thousands of students, inspiring their first steps into aviation and engineering.
The Solution: ‘Balsa in a Box’—my signature, no-profit activity. This kit provides a fun, physical introduction to the four principles of flight and core aerodynamics.
Transparency Note: STEMDan operates at no profit but is not a registered charity as it doesn’t currently meet the minimum income requirements.
Why Your Support Matters
The goal is universal accessibility. We are determined to keep this activity free for schools, ensuring every student has the opportunity to participate, regardless of budget.
Here’s the impact of your partnership:
- Designed for All Learners: The activity’s staged, hands-on structure ensures fantastic engagement across the board, proving successful with students of all abilities, including those in dedicated SEN Schools and classrooms with Special Educational Needs students.
- Maximizing Value: My time for planning, assembly, and delivery of sessions is provided free of charge (utilizing my employer’s volunteer days).
- Built Smart: To manage increased material costs (balsa wood), the models have been scaled down by 1/3, keeping the cost per student incredibly low while preserving the core lesson.
- The Cost: The total material cost is just £1.20 per student.
Our Goal: Fund the Next 700 Aviation Enthusiasts
I recently left the RAF after 23 years, and with the original kits nearly gone, it’s time to launch the next phase of Balsa in a Box!
We are seeking £900 to fund the next batch of 20 kits, which will reach 700 students.
Become a Brand Partner or Individual Supporter
We are looking for companies and individuals who share our passion for nurturing future talent.
The “Wing of Support” Initiative:
For this funding drive, we are offering a unique thank you: If you contribute, are happy for your name to be featured, we will print your name (or your company’s logo) directly onto the wing of the Balsa in a Box glider models. Every student who builds a kit will literally be launching your support into the air!
Would you like to invest in the next 700 student victories?
